Patch Notes v0.3

QuestsForgeStorytellingLoomAchievementsCombatBuildingPlayer ExperiencePlatform

Last week we opened quest authoring. This week we connected the rest of the loop: authored quests can react to real gameplay and conversations, guide players through the world, chain into follow-ups, survive reconnects, and stay visible in a new active quest tracker.

Build week: July 17 to 24, 2026. These notes cover Avalon's development and integration work this week. They do not announce a new public production game cook.

Creator Quests, End to End

  • Quests now speak gameplay. A shared gameplay event system connects quests, achievements, and Merlin. Authored objectives can react to movement, attacks, dodges, harvesting, interactions, crafting, and building events instead of relying on one-off quest code. (Create in The Forge, then bring quests into a world through The Codex.)
  • Conversations can move a quest forward. Creators can write semantic conversation goals for NPC encounters. When a player reaches the intended goal in dialogue, the quest can recognize it without demanding one exact line of text.
  • Avalon Quest Forge showing a named quest, player-action objective, and Codex and Marketplace publishing controls

  • The trail stays visible. Active stamped, travel, and NPC quest locations now appear on the map and minimap. Larger placement previews make creator-authored destinations easier to position, and every current objective type is represented in the active tracker.
  • The tracker fits the game. The new active quest rail sits at the screen edge on translucent scrims, remembers when you minimize it, and stays in sync as objectives progress.
  • Quest chains recover cleanly. Explicit follow-up quests begin immediately, missed links reconcile, and authoritative active and completed quest state is restored after reconnecting.
  • Publishing acts like an update. A creator can revise a stable quest asset instead of producing a duplicate on every publish. Quests also have first-class Marketplace browse, search, detail, and validation-error states. (See how creator content circulates through the Marketplace.)

Personality, Lore, and Conversational Storytelling

  • Reusable personalities carry more of the character. In the current integration path, Forge personality profiles own voice style, goals, and nested lore books. NPCs can link to a reusable profile, while quests can use the goals carried by their target NPC. Conversation-goal history now persists per character and NPC.

  • World lore reaches the conversation. The dialogue service can consume lore assigned to the current world, while authored goals connect a character's motives to conversational quest objectives.
  • Elysara has an official lore foundation. Its catalog is now available to the development content pipeline for consistent world and character writing.
  • A player standing beside a Mykiri villager in a bright Elysara landscape, with the social panel and interaction prompt visible

Loom Reliability

  • References stay true to the asset type. Uploaded weapon and prop concepts no longer get redrawn as humanoids in a T-pose. The review copy and redraw path now match what the creator is actually making.
  • Moderation happens before generation. Descriptions are checked before a generation job begins, and clean prompts that cross sentence boundaries are no longer rejected by mistake.
  • Creation history is durable. Single-model Loom tasks can be loaded back into the interface, so refreshing or returning later no longer erases the visible trail of recent work.

Achievements: Development Build

  • Large catalogs now load more reliably. Achievement data is paced around busy joins and followed by compact progress updates. This fixes join-time delivery failures seen with large catalogs during development testing.
  • Achievement cards explain the accomplishment. The detail view shows progress, unlock date, category art, and the community unlock rate when the service supplies it.
  • Account and character rewards are separated. The integrated development path supports character-scoped progress and one-time XP redemption alongside account-wide achievements, plus new events from the shared gameplay event system.
  • Rollout status: this achievement work is integrated and tested in development, but its production rollout is still pending.

Combat, Progression, and Creature Audio

  • Stamina has a clearer rhythm. Recovery is faster, sprinting and rolling have meaningful costs, attacks are less punishing, and the maximum pool no longer double-counts Finesse. The result is a resource you spend deliberately and regain quickly.
  • Progression was retuned. Kill XP now responds more smoothly to level difference and enemy rank, early requirements are gentler, high-level requirements trend toward linear growth, and character progression is capped at level 1,000.
  • Staves attack 50% faster. Their equipped attack rate now better matches the intended combat pace.
  • Creature audio library expanded. The development content library now includes 70 validated, licensed combat sounds for Orcs, Goblins, Zombies, Dragons, Skeletons, Wraiths, and Liches, plus deeper layered roars and cleaner tails for Dragons.

Building and Player Experience

  • Build mode always has an exit. The state machine now recovers from rejected or desynchronized transitions instead of trapping a player in build mode.
  • Creator placement is more dependable. Elevated world editing no longer rolls valid world-storage placements back for claim-boundary reasons, draft worlds retain block interaction, repeated NPC and item stamping continues after the first placement, and duplicated scaled blocks keep their scale.
  • Avalon build mode in the Fractured Cliffs, showing the Building Kits shelf, transformation toolbar, player character, and a Goblong

  • Inventory controls got sturdier. Player Menu V2 adds a protected two-step Drop Item action, replaces a sort menu that disappeared before it could be used, restores packaged icons, and hardens tooltips, magical effects, and armor-slot inference.
  • Small interruptions recover better. Saved DLSS settings reapply after map loads, loading waits only for the local player's appearance, and the bug reporter can refresh an expired session once and also file feature requests.

Under the Hood

  • Quest infrastructure: the legacy default questline is retired by default, while the shared event bus gives quests, achievements, and Merlin one server-authoritative stream of gameplay facts.
  • World operations: merged orchestration changes stop stale legacy worlds from remaining pinned forever by an old readiness flag and prepare the canonical development worlds for more dependable availability. These changes have not been independently verified live.
  • Live service routing: production edge routing now preserves the `/game/` path correctly, and the Discord onboarding callback route was restored. Both routing repairs were directly verified live.
  • Build status: relevant targeted game, server, frontend, and service checks passed for the cited changes, but no new public production game cook was verified for this update.
